This painting was something I saw with my mind's eye and I quickly made a rough sketch of it in the latter part of 2011. I wanted to paint it but couldn't because it wouldn't rest, wouldn't settle, in my mind. It kept evolving, changing, until it finally resulted in this painting. It represents those of us that might be born into an already shattered world or family. Our world is shattered right from the start. It also represents those of us who have had our life dream, or dreams, shattered by things or events beyond our control. Most of us recover and rebuild while others suffer for a lifetime, shattered. For some, it is a cycle of constantly dealing with a shattered life off/on. The key is to develop resiliency. There is no magic pill.
