This painting was inspired by a thought process late last year, 2022, perhaps early 2023. Don't recall exactly when it occurred. The concept of atonement came to mind and I began to think of all the things I have done right and things I have done wrong during my life span. Some of those things were done knowingly, others unknowingly. I was, in some cases, able to right the wrongs while in others it was impossible to do. It was important for me to ask the
universe for forgiveness. The process resulted in my writing a song that I plucked on my guitar. I sang the first verse for two individuals and they liked it. Later I completed the song and sang it to the universe. The painting is how I see those who have atoned and reach for the
Spirit In The Sky to climb the stairway to the portal. Even those who have no religious beliefs can find peace of mind by simple atonement by addressing the universe.
