I sustained a physical and painful injury. As I dealt with the pain, I began to reflect on pain I had experienced as far back as I could remember. The memory of pain due to 2nd and 3rd degree burns in early childhood erupted and that pain led me to start this painting. I captured the colors of my various pains that have been significant in my life span. The memory of the childhood burns is depicted in the center of this painting. As I relived other memories of pain, it seemed to me that there was a beginning of pain but no end. Pain is an inherent part of who I am and cannot detach myself from it. We are intertwined for life.
